And how to start a blog of bags not speaking of "THE BAG"?
The Birkin bag is the most popular, a bag cult that is now on the arm of both women and men without distinction , mostly of oversea celebrities who wear them in eccentric colors and valuable leathers.
But why all this success and why everyone wants them?
Because this is not just a bag, or a simple accessory: the Birkin is a real status symbol, a symbol of luxury, that any fashionista would have within his cabinet and who dreams of being able to actually collect, as does the soooo spoiled Posh Spice: Victoria Beckham who already has a collection of Birkin estimated at 1.5 million pounds (an amount that makes one's head spin) for a total of nearly 100 birkin (assures the Daily Mail, which has already made a proper investigation into her collection of bags) of bright colors and unique, from shocking pink to lime green to purple.
Hermès has worked to make the Birkin a "product for a few, focusing on its exclusivity in two ways: not just playing the" money factor (the Birkin costs by approximately $ 5000, up to 50,000 !) but also on the "waiting factor" (there are endless waiting lists and you could have to wait up to two years before you can get your hands on your object of desire: just to make it short, an industry that knows no crisis! )
Originally Hermès focuses on making horses equipments and his bags were inspired by cowboy's ones which were made of leather and hand sewn, so they could last. But we really all know how did this model, which makes women all over the word dream, was born? The story goes back in 1984 during a flight from Paris to London: the actress Jane opened her handbag and a multitude of papers and notes came out of it, and designer of Hermès named Jean-Louis Dumas, who was traveling on the same flight took the actress' bag and returned it a few weeks later with the addition of a pocket (which has since become standard). Jane Birkin Dumas told hes difficulty in finding a bag that went well for the day for the evening, that was roomy and comfortable, yet feminine and elegant. Dumas created the prototype and made it get delivered to her home. A true modern fable.

La Birkin è la borsa più gettonata, una borsa cult che troviamo ormai al braccio indistintamente sia delle donne che degli uomini, per lo più celebrità d’oltreoceno che le indossano dei colori e dei pellami più particolari ed eccentrici. Ma perché tutto questo successo e questa voglia di possederla? Perchè non si tratta di una semplice borsa, o di un semplice accessorio: la Birkin è un vero e proprio status symbol, un simbolo di lusso, che ciascun fashionista vorrebbe possedere all’interno del suo armadio e che sogna di poter addirittura collezionare, come fa la viziatissima Posh Spice: già perché Victoria Beckam ha una collezione di Birkin stimata a 1,5 milioni di sterline (cifre da fare letteralmente girare la testa) per un totale di quasi 100 birkin (lo assicura il Daily Mail, che avrebbe fatto una vera e propria indagine sulla sua collezione di borse) dei colori più sgargianti e particolari, dal rosa shocking al verde acido al viola.
La stessa Hermés si è adoperata per far diventare questa borsa un “prodotto per pochi”, puntando sulla sua esclusività in due modi: non solo giocando sul “fattore prezzo” (la birkin costa approssimativamente dai 5000 dollari, fino ad arrivare ai 50.000 mila!!!) ma anche sul “fattore attesa” (ci sono liste d’attesa interminabili e si può dover aspettare anche fino a due anni prima di poter avere tra le mani il proprio "oggetto del desiderio": insomma un settore che non conosce crisi!) Ma davvero tutti sanno come è nato questo modello che fa sognare le donne (e non solo) di tutto il mondo? Si racconta che nel 1984 durante un volo da Parigi a Londra, l’attrice e modella Jane Birkin aprì la sua borsa dalla quale cadde una moltitudine di fogli e appunti, e lo stilista di Hermès, Jean-Louis Dumas, che viaggiava sullo stesso volo prese la borsa dell’attrice e gliela restituì qualche settimana dopo, con l’aggiunta di una tasca (che da allora divenne standard). Jane Birkin raccontò a Dumas la propria difficoltà di trovare una borsa che andasse bene sia per il giorno che per la sera, che fosse capiente e comoda, ma allo stesso tempo femminile ed elegante. Dumas ne realizzò il prototipo e gliela fece arrivare a casa. Una vera e propria favola moderna.
